Import/Export Services:

IVH is a full member of IPATA, an international association for pet travel. Our priority is to ensure that your pet is in safe hands and travels with minimum stress.

Useful information:

For pets traveling to Kuwait an import permit is required from the Animal Health department. The permit is valid for a month from date of issue. Up-to-date vaccinations are a requirement. It can take up to four days to get the permits.

If your pet is traveling unaccompanied in cargo, customs clearance is required. We can obtain the import permit for you and clear your pet through customs but if you

decide to do this yourself please ensure that you have the correct paperwork with you, someone who speaks Arabic, and knows the system. It takes approximately 2-3 hours to clear pets and sometimes longer depending on arrival time.

If your pet is traveling with you as excess baggage, they arrive in the airport with the luggage. You still need an import permit as you may be asked to show it. The airline may ask to see it before departure.

For animals traveling out of Kuwait a Health Certificate is required from the Animal Health Department. To obtain a Health Certificate which is only valid for (7) days from the date of issue, the pet must be Microchipped and original valid vaccination records are also a requirement. The vaccinations must have been done at least ninety (90) days prior to travel. A letter from a Veterinarian dated (7) days prior to travel is also needed by the Authorities to confirm that the animal is fit and healthy to travel.

Pets can travel unaccompanied as cargo providing there is no change of airline. For instance pets can travel with any airline to the USA transiting in Europe but cannot travel to the USA by changing airline in Europe. Airlines insist that carriers have to be plastic although some airlines will allow us as an official shipper to use wooden carriers.

If your pet is traveling as excess baggage, you will still need a health certificate. This is a much cheaper and easier way of getting your pet to its destination. You can make the airline booking direct with the airline on your ticket.

Every country has different import/export regulations. It is the responsibility of the owner to check with the country they are traveling to/from and with the airline to establish exact requirements and procedures.
