Import / Export

IPATAIVH is a full member of IPATA, the international Independent Pet and Animal Transportation Association.

Our priority is to ensure that your pet is in safe hands and travels with minimum stress.

Useful information:

For pets traveling to Kuwait, an import permit is required from the Animal Health Department. This permit can take up to four (4) days to obtain and is valid for one month from the date of issue.

If your pet is traveling out of Kuwait, a health certificate is required from the Animal Health Department. To obtain a health certificate, which is valid for seven (7) days from the date of issue, the pet must be micro-chipped and the original valid vaccination record must be provided. The vaccinations must have been administered at least ninety (90) days prior to travel. A letter from a registered Veterinarian, dated seven (7) days prior to travel, is also needed by the Authorities to confirm that the animal is fit and healthy to travel. Certain blood testing may also be necessary.

Each country has different import/export regulations. It is the responsibility of the owner to check with the country they are traveling to/from and with the airline to establish exact requirements and procedures.

If your pet is traveling with you as excess baggage, they will arrive in the airport with the luggage. You will still need an import permit and a health certificate as you may be asked to show them on collection of your pet. The airline may also ask to see them before departure.
